How we make the country pages
Short, friendly and correct: this is how each trip is put together and checked before you see it.
1. Facts from open data
The capital, currency, languages, neighbours and area of every country come from the open world-countries dataset, and the map from Natural Earth. These facts are never written by hand.
2. A first draft, written with AI help
The history, food, cities, landmarks, fun facts, words, phrases and tips are drafted with the help of an AI model, from sources that are opened and read: encyclopedias, UNESCO, official statistics and tourism sites. Every section lists its sources.
3. An automatic audit
A program checks every page before it can be published: each question has exactly one right answer, dates in "put in order" questions really are in order, cities are inside the country on the map, capitals and currencies match the facts, and every source link opens.
4. An independent fact check
A second, separate check goes through every claim and every question against reliable sources, looking for anything that is wrong, out of date or could be argued. Its findings are fixed and checked again. A page is published only when this check says it passes.
5. Photos with credit
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, and every photo shows its author and licence. Each one is looked at to make sure it really shows that dish, place or city.
6. Corrected when you tell us
If you spot a mistake, please tell us through the contact page. We fix it and check the change again.
